About Gert Meindertsma
Gert Meindertsma was born on June 22, 1970, and lived in Ermelo, the Netherlands. He had a creative spirit throughout his life. In 2004, he began painting, a passion that grew into an important part of his life.
He studied at the Vrije Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Nunspeet, where he graduated in 2012. Prior to that, he completed a foundation course at the Amsterdam University of the Arts and attended various additional courses and workshops.
Gert participated in numerous painting workshops in the Netherlands and abroad. His work shows a broad artistic development, with a primary focus on landscapes and cityscapes. Within this genre, he created both figurative and more abstract works. He also regularly painted still lifes and other subjects.
Stylistically, he felt most connected to Impressionism and Expressionism. He was also inspired by the CoBrA movement.
His work was exhibited both nationally and internationally and featured in several art publications. In addition, his artwork appeared on various art-related websites.
In July 2026, Gert passed away. His paintings and artistic legacy remain a lasting tribute to his creativity, passion, and craftsmanship.
